Once upon a time, the loss today of Walter Cronkite would have caused this nation to weep or mourn, but no longer. It is truly sad to think that in  most parts of the country his is just another celebrity obituary, a filler piece for the late news cast, and a chance for Corporate news desks at every station and channel to  pretend (to the public) that they follow his example.  He is a man, who stood for honest objective journalism.  Integrity and respect for the issues facing the nation.  Every day on the evening news we see one sided biased reporting we see good issues killed and hidden from the public eye by a media that is increasingly bought and paid for by big business, or that is censored by the government “for the good of the nation”. That was never the case when Mr. Cronkite delivered the news to us.  He was a man so respected in this country that when he told us that Vietnam was a stalemate and we could no longer believe in the “silver linings” the Government pointed at, then President Johnson said “If I've lost Cronkite, I've lost middle America.”

So Ladies and Gentlemen, a moment of silence please in respect for the passing, of the last member of the national media who had any integrity, honor, objectivity, or believability.  We will never see his like again.

And THAT’S the way it is…  Good night America.
